Careers at Evolv IT
Network Administrator
Birmingham, Alabama or remote for the right candidate
Own secure, documented, and supportable networks across Evolv IT's compliance-driven client environments.
The Role
Own work that matters
You will be accountable for the network layer: firewalls, switching, wireless, VPNs, segmentation, monitoring, and the documentation that lets the whole team support each environment confidently.
What You Will Own
Responsibilities
The work
- Configure, harden, monitor, and maintain firewalls, switches, wireless systems, VPNs, and related network services.
- Troubleshoot performance, connectivity, routing, DNS, DHCP, and security issues across multi-vendor environments.
- Plan and execute network upgrades, replacements, migrations, and site deployments with disciplined change control.
- Maintain diagrams, inventories, configurations, standards, and recovery information for every environment touched.
- Review configurations for security gaps, unsupported equipment, weak segmentation, and operational risk.
- Support escalations and teach the service team how to diagnose network issues effectively.
What you bring
- Practical administration experience with business firewalls, managed switching, wireless, VLANs, VPNs, routing, DNS, and DHCP.
- Strong packet-level and layered troubleshooting habits.
- Understanding of network security, segmentation, MFA, remote access, backups, and configuration management.
- Ability to document networks clearly and execute changes without creating avoidable disruption.
- Networking and security certifications are helpful, but sound judgment and demonstrated ownership are essential.
What success looks like
- Networks are stable, secure, monitored, and documented to a consistent standard.
- Changes are planned, communicated, validated, and recoverable.
- The service team can understand each environment without relying on tribal knowledge.
- Recurring network incidents result in root-cause correction, not repeated workarounds.

The Standard
How we work
Our Non-Negotiables are how we hire, review, and promote. The ones that matter most in this role are discipline, extreme ownership, continuous learning, high standards, and a relentless pursuit of excellence.
Own the outcome
If it touched your hands, the next action and the quality of the result are yours.
Document the work
Good work becomes repeatable when the next person can understand what happened and why.
Keep raising the standard
We expect feedback, learning, and measurable improvement rather than comfortable repetition.
