Careers at Evolv IT

Sales Manager

Birmingham, Alabama · In person · Local prospect travel
Build a team. Earn trust. Win business.

The Role

Sell personally and build a team that can do the same

Business owners want their people working, their business protected, and confidence that someone is taking responsibility for their technology. You will understand what matters to them, help them make a sound decision, and lead a sales team that can do the same.

This is a hands-on role for a leader who can prospect, lead discovery, and close business while recruiting and developing other salespeople. You will work directly with the CEO to raise the standard of execution and turn growth goals into measurable results.

What You Will Own

Production, people, process, and profitable growth

New business

  • Carry an individual target alongside responsibility for team performance.
  • Generate opportunities through outbound work, referrals, networking, partnerships, and marketing follow-up.
  • Own the full cycle from first conversation through signed agreement and internal handoff.
  • Pursue clients who fit Evolv IT's service model and profitability requirements.

Team leadership

  • Recruit, evaluate, onboard, and develop salespeople with the CEO.
  • Set clear standards for activity, opportunity quality, follow-through, and results.
  • Run weekly coaching and pipeline reviews.
  • Review calls and prospect meetings, then coach specific behaviors.

Consultative selling

  • Teach discovery that starts with the prospect's business and desired outcomes.
  • Connect technology decisions to productivity, continuity, security, and growth.
  • Present recommendations in plain language.
  • Handle objections without pressure tactics, unsupported claims, or premature discounting.

Pipeline and forecast

  • Own accurate, consistent sales-team work in GoHighLevel.
  • Require documented discovery, value, stage, owner, and next-step date.
  • Maintain a forecast supported by buyer actions and commitments.
  • Use conversion and deal movement to improve the process.

Pricing and proposals

  • Coordinate with technical leadership on recommendations and scope.
  • Follow approved pricing, margin, contract, and discount guidelines.
  • Protect delivery by confirming Evolv IT can keep every promise.
  • Avoid agreements that create preventable service or profitability problems.

Company coordination

  • Improve targeting, messaging, lead quality, and campaign follow-up with Marketing.
  • Coordinate technical resources for assessments and proposals.
  • Deliver complete handoffs to onboarding, technical delivery, and Account Management.
  • Use onboarding lessons to strengthen future sales commitments.

What success looks like

  • New recurring revenue: Individual and team performance against agreed targets.
  • Profitable agreements: Sales meet pricing and margin requirements.
  • Qualified pipeline: Credible opportunities support the revenue target.
  • Forecast accuracy: Projections reflect how buyers are actually moving.
  • Team development: Skills improve, new hires become productive, and accountability is consistent.
  • Handoff quality: Scope and commitments prepare delivery teams for a successful start.

Specific targets will be established with the CEO and documented in the role's scorecard.

What we expect from you

  • Demonstrated success selling recurring B2B services, preferably managed IT or cybersecurity.
  • Experience coaching salespeople and improving performance, backed by specific examples.
  • The ability and willingness to generate your own opportunities.
  • Confidence with owners and executives, plus strong discovery, presentation, negotiation, and closing skills.
  • Financial judgment around recurring revenue, contract value, margin, and discounting.
  • Consistent CRM discipline and enough technical understanding to explain business value.

Be prepared to discuss quota attainment, recurring revenue sold, typical agreement size, sales cycle, and how you helped others improve.

Your First 90 Days

Learn, establish the cadence, and show measurable progress

First 30 days

Learn Evolv IT's services, ideal clients, sales process, and delivery expectations. Review the pipeline, assess team capabilities, begin prospecting, and agree on your scorecard with the CEO.

Days 31–60

Run coaching and pipeline reviews, lead discovery meetings, advance qualified opportunities, and implement the most important process improvements.

Days 61–90

Demonstrate progress against agreed goals, a credible forecast, stronger team execution, and a clear plan for the next quarter.

This Role Is Not for You If

You want the title without the sales responsibility

This role is not a fit if you depend entirely on inbound leads, avoid prospecting or difficult feedback, present before understanding the problem, neglect CRM follow-through, rely on discounts or unsupported promises, or explain missed results without changing your approach.

Why build your career here?

You will work directly with the CEO and shape who we hire, how we sell, which clients we bring on, and how we grow. Strong performance earns recognition, trust, and greater responsibility. This is an opportunity to make a visible impact while developing others.

How to Apply

Show us that you can sell and lead

Submit your résumé and a written response of no more than 500 words addressing all three prompts:

  1. Your results: Describe your most recent sales target, actual performance, and the portion of your business you generated yourself.
  2. Your leadership: Give one example of how you improved a salesperson's performance. Explain what you observed, what you changed, and the outcome.
  3. Your approach: A prospect says, “Our current IT provider is fine. We're just comparing prices.” What are the first three questions you would ask, and why?

Use anonymized examples and do not include confidential client information. We are looking for clear thinking, credible results, and evidence that you can both sell and lead.
